Yanagi Genmaicha (ヤナギ玄米茶) is a mixture of bancha (late harvested Japanese green tea) and roasted sweet brown mochi rice. Yanagi (ヤナギ) means willow tree, the larger mature tea leaves are shaped like the branches of a weeping willow. Genmai (玄米) means brown rice and cha (茶) as I’m sure you know means tea.
While for the most part I avoid stocking blends, genmaicha is an exception, because it’s delicious, also everyone loves it, so there.
While you can still pickup some tea aromas the smell of toasted rice dominates this tea, it’s very sweet, mild, and affordable making it a great daily drinker. It’s very soothing and satisfying to drink, and if you’re quite fond of the smell of toasted rice you’ll really like it.
