Yabukita Midori (やぶきたみどり) is a Japanese green tea, specifically a sencha made from plants of the Yabukita variety grown in Shizuoka. Yabukita is the name of the place this cultivar was first grown in Japan, while Midori means green.
The dry leaves of this sencha aren’t particularly aromatic, but have a subtle sweet vegetal aroma nonetheless. The wet leaves and liquor smell a bit more like cooked vegetables, but some sweetness remains. A strong umami flavour dominates this tea with some astringent undertones with longer infusions.
- This tea was a part of the first flush harvest, and was grown without use of pesticides, fertilized with organic compost.
- This is a chumushi (medium steamed) sencha
- Yabukita is the most common tea cultivar in Japan because it’s adaptable to various climates and produces a high yield.
- The producer recommend brewing this tea at 60°C for 1-2 minutes (make sure you pre-heat your cup or you’ll get lukewarm tea).
- We only offer this tea in 100g amounts.
