Secondhand Porcelain Kutaniyaki Kyusu – 200ml
$40.00
1 in stock
This is a white Kyusu with red flowers and birds painted on the exterior and a ball type ceramic mesh strainer on the inside. It has an internal volume of about 200ml an ideal size for making tea for 1-4 people. This was made by Kanazawa Kutani Yaki Kataoka Kozando in Ishikawa, Japan.
I purchased this at a secondhand shop in Shizuoka-shi, Shizuoka, Japan, it has been used but is in good condition with no major marks or damage that aren’t a result of manufacture.
The lid is slightly small and can be slippery so take care when picking it up not to drop it.
Some notes on this product:
- This is porcelain, a neutral material. It will not have an effect on the taste of the tea like unglazed clay might.
- This is a one-off secondhand item.
- Before using for the first time rinse the teapot several times with hot water to wash-off any dust or other residue.
- To clean rinse with hot water (boiling water is ideal), dab the exterior dry with a clean tea towel. Then leave to air-dry with the lid off.
- Not microwave or dishwasher safe.
- You do not need to use detergent to wash this teapot, hot (ideally boiling) water is enough.
