This is a small gaiwan (lidded cup) ideal for brewing for 1-2 people. If your hands are big enough you can very comfortably pick up the whole thing (including the saucer) and pour sideways while resting the underside of your index finger’s knuckle on the top of the lid (see image).

Some notes on this product:

• Because it’s made of porcelain, a neutral material, it won’t affect the taste of the tea like unglazed materials might.
• This gaiwan was manufactured in China.
• The stated volume of 100ml is measured with no leaves in the gaiwan and the water filled to just under where the lid sits, so in reality it will fit more like 80-90ml of water with tea leaves inside.
• Currently the only available design is that pictured.
• The gaiwan you receive may differ slightly in shape from the one pictured (but the size and design will remain the same), this is due to minor manufacturing differences.
• Before using for the first time rinse the gaiwan with hot water to wash-off any residue left-over from manufacturing or packaging.
• To clean, rinse with hot water (boiling water is ideal), and dry quickly with a thick tea towel. Wash shortly after use to avoid any stains (but if there are stains you can easily scrub them out).
