A houhin (宝瓶) is a Japanese tea handleless tea brewing vessel, it works similar to the Japanese shiboridashi (しぼりだし) or the Chinese gaiwan. The difference being that the houhin has a built-in strainer and more pronounced pouring lip.
This houhin was handmade in Japan and uses a pleasant pink cracked glaze.
Some notes on this product:
- This is mostly glazed and will have little to no effect on the flavour of the tea compared to an unglazed vessel.
- This houhin was handmade in Japan.
- Currently the only available design is that pictured.
- Rinse several times with hot water before use to wash off any dust leftover from manufacture.
- To clean rinse with hot water (boiling water is ideal), dab the exterior dry with a clean tea towel, shake any water inside out, then leave to air-dry with the lid off.
- Not microwave or dishwasher safe.
- Do not use detergent to wash this teapot, hot (ideally boiling) water is enough.
- There is only 1 of this product available.
- There is a very small slight abrasion/rough patch on the end of the spout you can see in the photos.
