Huang pian (yellow leaves), xiao zhuan (small brick) is a sheng pu’er tea made from older yellow leaves grown on smaller bushes, harvested in 2021, in the village of Linxiang, Lin Cang, Puer, Yunnan, China near the Myanmar border. These leaves are pressed into tiny flat squares weighing about 8g each making them very convenieant for brewing, with no measuring or portioning required. Will last for as many infusions as you like but flavour starts reducing after the 4th. This tea and most sheng pu’er benefit greatly from aging but it still tastes fantastic now.
This tea is quite sweet (though longer brews will produce some astringency), there’s no noticable bitterness or smoky flavour and the dominant flavour and aromas are similar to green apple juice or cider. It has a moderate mouthfeel with multiple layers and a pleasant moreish aftertaste.
Each 8g square comes individually wrapped, they should all be approximately 8g but there may be a little margin for error.
