Who are you?

I’m Paul, originally from the UK but now based out of Christchurch, New Zealand, and this is my shop: Tea is Enough.

Tea is Enough is a small single person business started out of a burgeoning passion for tea. Disheartened by the lack of high quality tea and teaware available in New Zealand, and sick of having to wait weeks for tea ordered overseas to arrive, I decided to open Tea is Enough.

My goal is to offer high quality loose-leaf tea and teaware to New Zealanders at fair prices, with a focus on transparency as well as direct communication with you, the customers. I want you to tell me what you think of the tea and teaware I stock, and what you want me to try and bring in in the future.

I want to give you as much information as possible about this amazing drink. Its history, where it comes from, how it’s grown and produced, and how it can enrich your life like it has mine. I hope after browsing through this website and trying some good quality tea, (brewed properly) you’ll be able to appreciate the difference and never want to use another teabag again.

FAQ

Why Tea is Enough?

Although I have nothing against coffee, blends, or herbal infusions; I prefer to focus primarily on tea on its own, because I believe that tea is enough, hence the name. This is not a strict rule though, and you will see some exceptions every now and then (e.g. genmaicha).

Why should I buy from you?

There’s plenty of good tea out there for sale online, and I encourage you to explore your options, however there is an abundance of misinformation and dishonesty in the online tea market. I aim to do my best to give you as much accurate information on what you’re buying as possible, while being transparent about where it came from, and how it was made. If you’re ordering from New Zealand you’ll also benefit from quick shipping.

Where do you get your tea?

Tea is Enough currently gets its tea from wholesalers and farmers in China, Taiwan, and Japan, they get their tea from local markets as well as directly from farmers. In the future I hope to cut out the middleman and source directly from farmers exclusively, but to do so would require a lot of research and on location reconnaissance which is not currently possible.

How do you decide what tea to stock?

Before stocking a tea I’ll order samples, then taste and compare them with friends to decide what’s worth stocking. Price is always in the back of my mind however, and expensive teas have been judged with more scrutiny than the rest to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

How do I brew my tea?

Check out our brewing guide.

How long it will take for my order to arrive?

I try and send out orders as soon as I can, but there may be delays in dispatch. Especially if you order during or right before the weekend, or on public holidays. After your parcel is collected it should arrive within a couple of days domestically, sometimes overnight if you’re lucky and on the South Island.

Can I try the tea in advance?

If you’re in Christchurch and want to visit me to try some tea please contact me using the contact form or via email at support@teaisenough.co.nz. If you’d like a small sample of a tea please email after making an order and I might be able to include some depending on availability.
